Diwali Celebration in Janani home on 08.11.2023
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, holds immense cultural and spiritual significance in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. It typically lasts for five days and symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The name "Diwali" itself is derived from the Sanskrit word "Deepavali," meaning a row of lights. During Diwali, people light oil lamps or diyas, decorate their homes with colorful rangoli (artistic patterns created on the floor), and burst fireworks. The lighting of lamps signifies the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and the dispelling of darkness. Apart from the religious aspects, Diwali is a time for family and friends to come together, share meals, exchange gifts, and express joy and gratitude. It's a celebration that transcends religious boundaries, bringing communities together to celebrate the universal themes of light, love, and renewal.
The program started at about 05.15pm with the tamil thai valthu song. The participants were welcomed by the Sishubhavan play school teacher. The inaugural address was given by the Prime Trust Founder and Managing Director Mr. S. M. Arasu. The Oopalam MLA Mr. Kennedy gave the chief guest address. The children in Janani home performed songs, speeches and dances. The program ended with the vote of thanks by the intern from Rajagiri college of Social Sciences, Kerela. The diwali dinner was a good get together for everyone.
