Prime Trust conducts general medical camp at Rettanai village – 02.09.2023 Conducting a general medical camp can have several benefits, both for the community and for healthcare providers. Medical camps provide access to healthcare services for individuals who may not have easy access to healthcare facilities due to geographical, financial, or logistical barriers. This helps in reaching underserved populations. Regular medical check-ups at camps can help in the early detection of diseases and conditions. Medical camps often include health education sessions where healthcare providers can educate participants about preventive measures, healthy lifestyles, and disease management. This empowers individuals to take better care of their health. On 02.09.2023 Prime Trust along with Vel dental clinic, Agarwal eye hospital and i med hospital conducted a general health camp at a church in Rettanai village. The i med hospital team from Dindivanam provided general health checkup – blood pressure, blood glucose level and other ailments were treated. The people were provided with medicines. The Vel dental team provided dental checkup, basic treatment and oral health care education was provided. The Agarwal eye team did the screening for auto reflation, refractive error and color vision, power correction for distance vision & near vision. They provided counseling for cataract surgeries, Glaucoma surgeries and refractive surgeries. For further treatments the people were referred to local health care centers. One of the traditional crafts they practice is creating handmade drawstring bags. The fabric is cut and the pieces are sewed together to form the body of the bag. Speech about Freedom Fighters on Independence Day – 15.08.2023 India's long struggle for independence from British colonial rule is marked by the sacrifices, struggles, and leadership of numerous freedom fighters. These individuals dedicated their lives to the cause of India's independence, often at great personal risk and sacrifice. One of the girls from Janani Home gave a speech about one of the unsung heroes Theeran Mayandi Servai. He was born on 3 March 1904. The title ‘Theeran’ denotes his ‘Daring’ character. A freedom fighter and artist, Mayanndi Servai was fearless and gave a tough time to the British Administration. Mayandi Servai wanted to do something big and unforgettable as damage to the British raj. He did not want to lose his life but wanted to do something worthwhile, which would be etched permanently in the history of the freedom movement of India, and which would bring great disrespect to the Administration. A member of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, he later became its president. Mayandi Servai decided to hoist the Indian flag atop the Sri. Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, that too on an appointed day, daring the British Police to arrest him if they could. Accordingly, he announced a particular day as a ‘D-day - the flag hoisting day’ and dared the British Admin to prevent him from doing so. People around Madurai strongly believed that Mayandi Servai would in some way or the other hoist the flag since they knew Mayandi Servai could do the impossible. Such was his reputation in and around Madurai Town. This became a big prestige issue for the British. If the Indian Flag was allowed to be hoisted at a Temple, that too challenging it on a particular day, would be a big loss of face for the British. Hence, they issued a warrant to arrest Mayandi Servai. However, ten days earlier, Mayandi Servai ascended the north gopuram of the temple with a bag of peanuts and water and on D-day, he hoisted the flag. He later obtained the title ‘Theeran Mayandi Servai’ and dedicated his life to the freedom movement of this country. After independence, he started the ‘Agamudaiyar Mahasaba’ in Thirumamgalam, Madurai, and did a lot of social services.
